SPONTANEOUSSMATTERING X

THE SMATTERING

It's back! The craziest night of scripted theatre you have ever experienced is back to not only entertain but, as always, to raise funds and do some good in our community!

On Saturday, June 17th, your free shot will be waiting for you at the door and the combined efforts of over 50 people will be on display in a completely random and raucous night of theatre not suitable for all ages.

The Lowdown:

At 7PM on Friday, June 16th, the writers will meet and randomly select their actors, get their other parameters and endeavor (sober or not) to write a presentable short play. They arrive back at the theater on Saturday, June 17th, scripts in hand at 8AM to hand off to the directors and casts who have until 7PM to run around and rehearse, find props and costumes and be amazing for two performances that very night - one at 7PM and one at 9:45PM. YES, IT'S ONE NIGHT ONLY - SATURDAY JUNE 17TH!

This will be at our new home at

The Beacon Theatre (formerly the Frenetic Theatre)

5102 Navigation Blvd.

Houston, Texas 77011

And as always you - the audience - will get to vote on awards such as Best Use of Genre, Best Use of Prop and the coveted "Best In Show"!

THE CAUSE

Teachers have to spend their own money every year in order to help decorate their classrooms and purchase school supplies.  Most of these costs are not reimbursed and although they do get a tax credit, they still almost always spend more than that. It's not fair considering everything they do for our children and how much they get paid.

The Huffington Post has an illuminating article about how teachers are having to spend too much on their classrooms.

So, we want to do something about it.

Houston-area teachers are invited to register their name for our Smattering X Teacher Giveaway. Registration will close at 7:00 PM on Friday, June 16th.  From that pool of teachers, we will select 10 at random during the night of the Smattering and we will divide all ticket sales and donated school supplies 10 ways and give it to them!  It is the least we can do to give back to those that have given so much to our children.

We sincerely hope you can join us for this crazy fun event that is for a crazy good cause!
